New York Strip Steak with Red Wine Mushroom Sauce

I found the recipe at Food Network website

1. (2) New York steaks
2. Olive oil
3. butter
4. salt and pepper
5. shallots
6. thyme
7. cremini mushrooms
8. red wine (not pictured- I didn't have any)

slice and dice these

I used this awesome pan my bf's mom gave us and it fit those steaks perfectly.

For the gravy, suppose to use red wine but I didn't have any so I used chicken broth. It dawned on me that I should have used the beef broth but oh well. When the sauce thickens, take it off the stove and add the finishing touch with butter.

It's medium, just the way I like it. :D Served with a side of garlic potatoes that steam in the bag when you microwave it.

It all started when my BF and I were at Stater Bros and they were having a sale because of the Super Bowl. I went online to search for an easy recipe then I went to Fresh & Easy. I got a high value coupon from Fresh & Easy: $5 off $20 purchase! Read about how I got it in my previous blog post.

I also had $5 credit in my Fresh & Easy friends card. I bought some ingredients for this recipe and other stuff too.

This recipe serves two, I made food for my BF and I. It finished right he got off work. It was a big hit. I only ate half of my steak and I have leftovers for tomorrow!
